"Sébastien Tellier is a modern day enigma. A hirsute lothario, conquering hearts with soulful music that brims with a seductive élan" says the Record Makers Season News Paper (20 July 2012)

Parisian singer and musician Sébastien Tellier, born 1974 has risen to become a leading French musician in the international electronic music scene. His music is a rich infusion of; smooth vocals, the piano, electric guitar, violins, synthesiser, percussion etc. For example, his critically acclaimed song, La Ritournelle from his Politics album (2004), is a beautiful symphony of the the piano and violin. No wonder its sentimental sound has been popularly used commercially, for example, by L'Oreal, Ugly Betty, and Olso Auguest 21, a powerful, award winning Norwegian film by Joachin Trier.

Experimental and extrovert describes his style. His Sexuality album (2008), produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk, with sonds such as Look and Sexual Sportswear represent the sultry sounds he creates. His latest album, My God is Blue (l'Alliance Bleue) reveals even more of an ambitiously sensual and mysterious side to his sound.

For those unfamiliar with Tellier's music, perhaps his performance in the Euro vision Song Contest of 2008 may ring a bell. He represented France with his song Divine. Not only did his performance reveal his outlandish, peculiar character, but it also sparked a controversy in France for being the first time in Euro vision history where a French entry was formed mainly in English.

Whatever side of the debate, singing in English no doubt allows him to reach a wider audience. His status as a distinctly talented artist continues to be recognized world-wide.

Speaking to Sam Richards in an interview with the Guardian, 30th May 2012, he stated that he "tries to be different from his countrymen." Have a look at some of his videos below to see what your impression is on how he defines himself, music and character wise!
