Daniel Pennac was a teacher before writing books. A continued interest in education and social affaires led to his book The Right of the Reader and thereafter to School Blues.

My first venture into culturethèque, looking for a talk in French. At first I thought the voice of the extremely competent translator was going to dominate that of the speaker, but I found that I enjoyed both their contributions. I would have liked to know more about M.Pennac's rise from cancre to professeur! An interesting subject.
